Following the shooting script and storyboard made the filming process a lot easier for me, when it came to determining which shot to film next. This helped the filming process to go a lot smoother as I knew which frames I needed to capture and when. Using these as a reference allowed me to position the actors effectively and helped me to be more prepared when going to each set of the film.
P2(b) Following Shooting Script/Storyboard
Image of Freddie and Ivy getting married at the church.

In the original storyboard frame, I planned there was going to be additional characters showing support to the married couple. However, due to shortcomings of actors I was unable to have additional people in the frame. Although, I don’t think that this takes away from the frame as I think that just solely focussing on Ivy and Freddie as a couple, enhances the initial point of this shot, demonstrating that she could’ve got married.

Capturing this shot was fairly simple. I positioned myself relatively far away from the actors as I wanted to give myself options whether to zoom or not. From this is decided to capture my original thought of an over the shoulder shot from Ivy’s point of view, cutting out half of her body. However, this is slightly different from the initial image that I intended to capture as Freddie’s character was supposed to see her kneeling down. But in order to frame on a more personal level, to capture the characters facial expressions clearly, I decided to use a medium close-up shot, to show the actor as a reaction shot more clearly.

interpreted shot of the screenshot demonstrated below of ivy’s character after being hit by the car.
|
When originally planned, I wasn’t sure whether capturing this shot with a crane would be possible. Nevertheless, I was able to frame this shot using the media studies room’s crane. In the storyboard screenshot, I planned to have the character placed vertically in the frame, however when actually filming, I thought that it would be a more effective shot if Ivy was placed at a slight angle to make it easier to zoom and lower the crane at the same time. It was important to do this well, in order to ensure Ivy’s face was not lost in the frame whilst zooming and lowering the crane.

this is the shot i captured when filming the car scene + establishing shot of area.

I wanted to capture this image to demonstrate clearly to the audience how Ivy’s character is hurt in the film. This was fairly easy to shoot, using the tripod to capture a still image and to clearly box the car in the frame. I planned this shot to look exactly how it was carried out in filming, so I was very happy with this shot and didn’t feel that it needed changing.

shot showing the couple after having a baby.

I did plan to have an over the shoulder shot of someone for this frame, however when filming I didn’t feel that this was necessary as just filming the couple with the baby I felt was effective enough. To film this, I used the tripod in order to capture the frame still. I didn’t think that this shot required a zoom or movement as I wanted to demonstrate clearly to the audience how happy the couple were, not moving from their facial expressions, showing them clearly together in the same frame. An additional over the shoulder shot showing Ivy's character pregnant was added, which was taken from the storyboard screenshot shown below, however it did not include the baby in the frame, so I considered the image on the right as a more accurate representation of the storyboard.
